Shelby is an exciting new turf type tall fescue from Dr. Virginia Lehman's program and was bred specially for summer stress resistance, including both heat and drought stress. Shleby is a traditional style tall fescue (not a dwarf type), yes exhibits a slow vertical growth habit, which reduces the need for frequent mowing. Shelby has a medium leaf texture and medium leaf canopy (density). Medium density allows Shelby to be less susceptible to diseases such as brown patch, which are prevalent among high-density cultivars of turf type tall fescue. Shelby excels with high winter color ratings, especially important in the transition zone of the United States where tall fescue has active winter growth. Shelby is a great choice for lawns, parks, athletic complexes, as well as any other application where turf type tall fescue is applicable.
